SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
Porchlight Music Theatre
September 10 – October 31, 2010
Music by Stephen Sondheim
Book by James Lapine
Inspired by George Seurat’s masterpiece, “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte," this Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Imagines the life of the artist and the people he painted. At turns heartbreaking and humorous, Sunday in the Park with George explores the tension between life and art, and explores the choices we must all make as we weigh our personal ambitions with the demands place on us by those we love.

BARRYMORE!
A Hollywood legend makes a staggering effort to reclaim his former glory as a Broadway star in William Luce’s tour-de-force BARRYMORE. “Bad Boy” John Barrymore, celebrated for his charisma and matinee idol looks, takes center stage in a theater empty of everything but his humor and hubris, reminiscence and regrets. He strives to revive one of his greatest achievements, Shakespeare’s RICHARD III, while grappling with memories from his riotous and scandalous past.
Presented November 2008
“Pacas exercises unusual talent in his varied and vivacious performance: He grapples gamely with each discordant bit, slipping into Shakespeare with earnest pathos and into memories of childhood with light-footed tenderness. Barrymore himself may have shied from so ambitious a task.” – Christopher Shea, TIME OUT CHICAGO
Critical Evaluation: *** (Three Stars)
“…an opportunity for Mr. Pacas to show his talent, and he does so with great comic timing as he takes us through the man trying to stage a comeback and revive his greatest achievement, playing Shakespeare's RICHARD III…There are many laughs in this production and a marvelous ending... Open your mind and your heart and have a wonderful 70 minutes at The Raven Theatre…” – Alan Bresloff, STEADSTYLE CHICAGO
Critical Evaluation: **** out of ****
“… Michael Pacas superbly recreates the look and style of Barrymore. Onstage for the entire evening, Pacas plays well off both the audience and Scott Sumerak, as Barrymore's frustrated, tart-tongued Prompter.” -Jack Helbig, THE CHICAGO READER
Critical Evaluation: Recommended
